The ZeroBounce integration checks each email address a visitor enters in an Alia popup. If ZeroBounce rates the address invalid, the popup asks the visitor to fix it instead of signing them up, which keeps mistyped and fake addresses out of your lists.
š” Tip: For more information, see the ZeroBounce Help Center.
Before you begin
You need a ZeroBounce account with credits. Each check uses your ZeroBounce credits.
You need access to the API page in ZeroBounce to create a key. If you can't create one, ask your ZeroBounce account owner.
Connect ZeroBounce to Alia
In ZeroBounce:
Go to your API settings.
Create or copy an API key.
In Alia:
Go to Integrations and find ZeroBounce.
Select Connect. Connect ZeroBounce opens.
Paste your key into API Key.
Select Save.
The ZeroBounce card now shows Connected. Select Edit to change the key, or Disable to turn off the checks.
How email checks work
When a visitor submits a popup form with an email address, Alia asks ZeroBounce whether the address is valid before doing anything else with the signup.
If ZeroBounce rates the address invalid, the form shows "Please enter a valid email address" under the email field. The visitor isn't signed up, and nothing is sent to your other integrations, until they enter an address that passes.
Every other result lets the signup through, including addresses ZeroBounce rates as catch-all, unknown, or do not mail. Disposable addresses aren't blocked.
If ZeroBounce can't be reached or returns an error, such as when your account is out of credits, the signup goes through normally.
š” Note: A problem with ZeroBounce never blocks visitors from signing up. If your credits run out, checks stop and every address is accepted until you add more.
The check runs on every form submission that includes an email address, including later steps of the same popup. ZeroBounce doesn't change what's sent to your email and SMS tools. It only decides whether the signup is accepted.
ZeroBounce works alongside Alia's built-in email check, which every store has. That check catches common misspellings of providers like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, and iCloud, and asks the visitor "Did you mean gmail.com?" before they can submit.
š” Tip: After you connect, test your popup with a clearly fake address in a private browser window to see the error message.
Frequently asked questions
A visitor says the popup won't accept their email address. What should I do?
ZeroBounce rated the address invalid. Ask the visitor to check it for typos. If the address is real, look it up in your ZeroBounce account to see why it was rated that way.
Can I change the error message?
No. The message for an invalid address is fixed. The Error message under Advanced form settings is for missing required fields, not ZeroBounce results.
Can ZeroBounce block disposable email addresses?
No. Alia only rejects addresses ZeroBounce rates invalid. Disposable and other do-not-mail addresses go through.
Does ZeroBounce check phone numbers?
No. It only checks email addresses.
Why are my ZeroBounce credits going down quickly?
Each form submission with an email address is a separate check, including later steps of the same popup. Keep enough credits in your account so checks don't stop.
