The TargetBay integration sends each Alia popup signup to BayEngage, TargetBay's email and SMS marketing tool, as a customer. Alia includes the popup, campaign, discount, and survey details with each customer.
š” Tip: For more information, see the TargetBay Help Center
Before you begin
You need a TargetBay account with BayEngage.
Collect an email address in your popup. TargetBay requires one.
š” Note: Visitors who give only a phone number aren't sent to TargetBay.
Connect TargetBay to Alia
In BayEngage:
Go to Apps > Custom Integration.
Copy your Client ID, Client Secret, and Public Key.
In Alia:
Go to Integrations and find TargetBay.
Select Connect. Connect BayEngage opens.
Paste your Client ID, Client Secret (private key), and Public Key (public key).
Select Next.
In Choose lists, enter a list ID, or leave it blank to use your default TargetBay list.
Select Save.
To change the list later, select Edit on the TargetBay card. To turn off the integration, select Disable. TargetBay has no per-popup settings, so every popup sends signups to the same list.
What Alia sends to TargetBay
For each signup with an email address, Alia creates or updates a TargetBay customer with:
Their email address, with an active email subscription.
Their first name, if they gave one.
Their phone number, if they gave one. Alia asks TargetBay to start its SMS opt-in, so TargetBay handles SMS confirmation.
The list you chose, or your default list.
The source
Alia.
Alia also includes these custom fields:
Field | Value |
| The name of the popup they signed up through |
| The name of the campaign the popup belongs to |
| The discount code from the reward they claimed |
| The reward's title, such as "10% off" |
| When the discount code expires |
The question text | The answer they chose. For a question with several answers, only the first is sent. |
When signups reach TargetBay
By default, a form sends the contact as soon as the visitor submits it. If a form's Immediately subscribe users to CRMs setting is off, Alia waits until the visitor submits another form, claims a reward, or stops interacting with the popup for a few minutes.
š” Tip: Set a list ID to keep Alia signups apart from your other subscribers, so you can start a welcome series just for them. Make sure your SMS opt-in confirmation is set up in TargetBay too.
Frequently asked questions
A signup is missing from TargetBay. What should I check?
Check that the visitor gave an email address, since phone-only signups are skipped. If Immediately subscribe users to CRMs is off on the form, the contact arrives a few minutes after the visitor stops interacting with the popup.
Signups are going to the wrong list. How do I fix it?
Select Edit on the TargetBay card and check the list ID. A blank list ID sends signups to your default TargetBay list.
Can different popups send to different lists?
No. Every popup uses the list on the TargetBay card.
I don't see the Alia fields on customers in TargetBay. What should I do?
Alia sends the popup, campaign, discount, and survey details as custom fields. If they don't appear on a customer, contact Alia support so we can check what TargetBay received.
