Integrating Alia with Bluecore

Connect Bluecore to Alia so popup signups are opted in to email and SMS, with popup, campaign, and discount details saved on each customer.

Written by Rob D

The Bluecore integration sends each Alia popup signup to Bluecore as a customer and opts them in to marketing on the channels they gave you. It also saves which popup and campaign they came from and any discount they claimed.

šŸ’” Tip: For more information, see the Bluecore Help Center

Before you begin

  • In Bluecore, create an API key with Read & Write Access. You'll need its Namespace, Client ID, and Client Secret.

  • If you collect phone numbers, have your Bluecore SMS Channel ID ready.

Connect Bluecore to Alia

  1. In Alia, go to Integrations and find Bluecore.

  2. Select Connect.

  3. Enter your Namespace, Client ID, and Client Secret.

  4. Select Save. Alia checks the credentials with Bluecore before saving them.

  5. In Bluecore SMS settings, enter your Channel ID.

  6. Turn on Require double opt-in if your SMS program needs subscribers to confirm by text.

  7. Select Save.

To change your SMS settings later, select Edit on the Bluecore card. To turn off the integration, select Disable.

šŸ’” Note: Without a Channel ID, phone numbers are saved on the Bluecore customer but never opted in to SMS. Email works either way.

Bluecore has no per-popup settings, so every popup sends to the same channel.

What Alia sends to Bluecore

Alia creates or updates a Bluecore customer, identified by email address, or by phone number if that's all they gave. When they give both, Alia links them to the same customer.

  • Email: Alia opts the visitor in to marketing email.

  • SMS: Alia opts the visitor in to marketing SMS on the channel in Channel ID. With Require double opt-in on, Bluecore asks the subscriber to confirm by text first.

Alia opts each contact in to each channel once. If Alia knows the person unsubscribed from a channel, it doesn't opt them in to that channel.

Alia saves these attributes on the customer:

Attribute

Value

alia_popup

The name of the popup they signed up through

alia_campaign

The name of the campaign the popup belongs to

alia_offer

The discount code from the reward they claimed

alia_offer_text

The reward's title, such as "10% off"

alia_offer_expiration

When the discount code expires

Survey and quiz answers aren't sent to Bluecore.

When signups reach Bluecore

By default, a form sends the contact as soon as the visitor submits it. If a form's Immediately subscribe users to CRMs setting is off, Alia waits until the visitor submits another form, claims a reward, or stops interacting with the popup for a few minutes.

šŸ’” Tip: Use alia_offer in your welcome email to show the code the subscriber claimed, and alia_popup or alia_campaign to separate signups from different popups in segments.

Frequently asked questions

Phone numbers show up in Bluecore but aren't subscribed to SMS. Why?

Check that Channel ID is filled in under Edit. If Require double opt-in is on, subscribers stay unconfirmed until they reply to Bluecore's confirmation text.

Connecting to Bluecore fails with an error. What should I check?

Make sure the API key has Read & Write Access, and that the Namespace, Client ID, and Client Secret all come from the same key.

Can I send survey answers to Bluecore?

Not at this time. Bluecore receives the popup, campaign, and discount attributes, but not survey or quiz answers.

Can different popups send to different SMS channels?

No. The Channel ID applies to every popup.
