The Drip integration creates or updates a Drip subscriber for each visitor who signs up with an email address. Alia tags each subscriber alia, saves popup, discount, and quiz details as custom fields, and can enroll new subscribers in a Drip email campaign.
š” Tip: For more information, see the Drip Help Center
Before you begin
You need your Drip Account ID and a Drip API key, both from your Drip account settings.
Collect an email address in your popup. Drip identifies subscribers by email.
š” Note: Visitors who give only a phone number aren't sent to Drip.
Connect Drip to Alia
In Alia, go to Integrations and find Drip.
Select Connect. Connect Drip opens.
Enter your Account ID and API key.
Select Save. Alia checks them, then opens Edit Drip Integration.
Optional: under Campaign, choose a Drip campaign to enroll new subscribers in. Choose None to skip enrollment.
Select Save.
The Drip card now shows Connected. Select Edit to change the campaign, or Disable to disconnect.
Drip has no per-popup or per-form settings. To treat popups differently, use the alia_popup or alia_campaign custom field in your Drip workflows.
What Alia sends to Drip
For each subscriber, Alia sends:
Their email address. The subscriber is set to active, or unsubscribed if they declined email marketing in the popup.
Their phone number with SMS consent, if they gave one and didn't decline SMS.
The tag
alia.These custom fields:
Custom field | What it holds |
| The name of the popup the visitor signed up through |
| The name of the campaign the visitor saw |
| The discount code from the reward they claimed |
| The reward's title, such as "10% off" |
| When the discount code expires |
Quiz questions | The visitor's answer, saved under the question text |
Form answers | Anything a form collects under an Integration field name, or sets under When form is submitted |
Drip custom field names can only use lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores, so Alia converts question text and field names. For example, "What's your skin type?" becomes what_s_your_skin_type. Multiple answers are joined with commas. Fields that arrive later, such as a quiz answered after signup, are added to the same subscriber.
How campaign enrollment works
If you choose a campaign, new subscribers are added to it. If the campaign uses double opt-in, Drip sends its confirmation email, and the subscriber becomes active when they confirm. Otherwise, Alia sets the subscriber active and enrolls them.
When signups reach Drip
A subscriber is sent when the visitor submits a form with an email address. If a form's Immediately subscribe users to CRMs setting is off, Alia waits until the visitor submits another form, claims a reward, or is inactive for about 3 minutes.
š” Tip: Start your welcome workflow from either the alia tag or the campaign you chose in Alia, not both, so subscribers aren't welcomed twice. Add alia_discount_code to the email so the code matches the popup.
Frequently asked questions
A signup is missing from Drip. What should I check?
Check that the visitor gave an email address. If Immediately subscribe users to CRMs is off on the form, the subscriber arrives a few minutes after the visitor leaves the popup.
My subscribers are in Drip but not active. Why?
If the campaign you chose uses double opt-in, subscribers stay unconfirmed until they select Drip's confirmation link. Choose a single opt-in campaign, or None, to make them active right away.
I can't find a quiz answer in Drip. Where is it?
Look for the question text in lowercase, with underscores in place of spaces and punctuation.
Subscribers are getting 2 welcome emails. How do I fix it?
Two Drip workflows are likely starting for the same signup, such as one from the alia tag and one from the campaign. Keep one trigger.
